    Schedule at Drikung Thil
Like most major monasteries, Drikung Thil observes a very full monthly and yearly ritual calendar. These rituals are both for the benefit of the individual monks practising them as well as the larger community that supports the monastery. Other than monks who are in retreat (and there are many of these at Drikung Thil), all other monks are all expected to attend these practices. Most of them have also memorized the various liturgies that are used at these rituals. This actually means that quite a large body of texts are committed to memory by the monks; thus forming a common and shared body of knowledge, know-how and expertise within the monastery.
